Supporting Every Child’s Journey

At Drummond Park Pre-School, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Established with Community at Heart

Drummond Park Pre-School, “the little preschool shaping big futures,” first opened its doors in 1971. It began when an enterprising group of local families, who had been meeting for playgroup at the University of New England, recognised the need for a preschool in the community. They successfully applied for an allocation of Crown land and were granted the use of the current Carey Avenue site.

The story behind Drummond Park

Tender documents from the time show that the Drummond Park Playgroup Association, as it was then known, purchased the old St Mark’s Chapel building for $112. A further $1,200 was allocated for relocating the building and converting it into a preschool.

Major renovations to both the building and outdoor environment were completed in 2012 to support the preschool’s ongoing growth. In 2025, an accessibility ramp was also installed, improving access and ensuring the preschool is more inclusive and welcoming for all members of the community.

Growing with Our Community

Throughout our history, Drummond Park Pre-School has been shaped by the families and community members who support it. Guided by a dedicated Management Committee, we continue to evolve while staying true to our core values of inclusion, respect and collaboration.
